Traffic Tips for Online Marketing

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

In case you’ve been living in a vacuum, most people use their websites as their business model for making money. Of course, you can’t let your website stay hidden in the closet, people have to find it. All those folks who visit your site and love it are collectively called, traffic – website traffic, search engine traffic, etc. It’s a numbers game, more traffic equals more sales – generally speaking. The big goal here is to get as much traffic as possible so you can make as much cash as possible. Next on the agenda… talk about getting more traffic to your site – the rest is up to you.

It’s a good idea to submit your site to the secondary search engines, but avoid doing that with the major search engines using their submission form. The reason for this is that it can take much longer than necessary, and you can get at least your home page indexed in Google very quickly using social media methods. Submitting your site, manually, to the smaller engines will take a little time, but not a huge amount. This serves two purposes, you’ll get traffic from them and they will contribute something to your site’s overall popularity as understood by Google’s algorithm. There are tons of ways to get backlinks, and some are certainly more valuable than others. You don’t want all high PR, high-power backlinks because Google recognizes that as unnatural, so having a good variety will make things look more normal, and natural.

Create a PPC campaign.

Set your spending limits to what you can afford. PPC campaigns can bring you lots of traffic if you set them up with the right key words and write good ads.

The most popular Pay Per Click campaign builder is Google Adwords. If you know what you’re doing, you can get huge amounts of traffic with Adwords and similar services. Remember, you want your ad to be entertaining and enticing so that people will click on it!

Find some newsletters in your niche area. Contact them and go slowly, but what you eventually want to do is contribute some content, or articles, to their newsletter. You’re not doing this for direct payment, you’re doing it for exposure of your name and your website to the audience. You’ll find a lot of publishers will agree to this if your content is good and well-written. And if it all goes well, you could end up with a good writing gig.

Some marketers have trouble deciding what traffic generating tools or strategies to focus on, as there are so many to choose from. You don’t have to narrow it down to a single method, though; there’s no reason why you can’t use several techniques at once. You don’t have to work at these traffic generating techniques all day; in an hour or two daily you can learn how to bring thousands of visitors per month to your site! Some of these visitors will become buyers!

Good Customer Service – What to Do as an Internet Marketer

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

How do you decide whether to return to a particular store or business when you shop? Most people would answer that it has to do with the people they encounter there and the overall level of customer service! If you think about it, when you decide what stores, restaurants or services to patronize, a lot of it comes down to customer service. Customer service is essential to the success of any business, and this is something that many internet marketers need to learn. The impersonality of the internet may make online marketers feel anonymous, but they still have to focus on customer service if they want to get more customers! You can use these tips and suggestions to start providing better customer service to your website visitors.

Email your current customers to see what suggestions they have for improvement. The most important thing is to let them know you really do care about their opinion, but that you may not be able to act on every suggestion given. You may be shocked by the information you get. You never know, this could even remind a few people that they were going to buy something from you! In a single email that allows for feedback, you could draw in hundreds of dollars of sales. Another way to offer great customer service is sending a discount email to someone that buys a product from you.

It’s extremely easy to make this possible, especially if you use an automatic responder, and the customers will oftentimes come back to your site to redeem the discount! This is a great way to add hundred, or maybe even thousands, of dollars to your bottom line. Everyone loves bargains and sales! Another way you could do this is to offer a coupon code that can be entered at your website, or even personalize a product specifically for them when they reply to your email.

When setting up your website, make sure you have a customer support system in place, so people can ask questions or make comments regarding the product they’ve purchased from you. In fact, if you are difficult to contact, you may never make many sales in the first place. Without any support or contact information, a site appears to be fly-by-night and not someone to trust.

You want to provide as much personal service as your customers want. That’s why you have to provide some contact information. While this may seem like a lot of work, you have to consider how this can make more people willing to trust you and buy from you. Sometimes it takes that level of personal contact to turn a looker into a buyer. Offline businesses aren’t the only ones that need to pay attention to customer service. People aren’t going to continue to buy from you if they perceive you as someone who doesn’t care about their needs. As with other business models, excellent customer service can be what helps your online business stand out. Are you doing everything you can to create and keep happy customers?

Profitable Ebay Tips for Online Marketing Beginners

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Many people find that selling things on Ebay is a great way to get started in internet marketing. This popular online auction, which millions of people use every day to buy and sell, is a good way for new internet marketers to learn the ropes. For many online marketers, Ebay is the first step towards a lucrative business of their own. After learning the ins and outs of selling on an auction site, some people realize that they can succeed on their own, without even using Ebay. Does this sound like something you would like to try? If you’d like to eventually make a living online and want to start earning through Ebay, here are some tips to help you find the success you’re looking for.

Take special care when writing your descriptions for items you list for sale. A listing that is not written well can ruin your chances right up front. Check your spelling, for having a listing with misspelled words will prevent many potential buyers from bidding on your item. Similarly, your grammar should be correct. You also want to make sure that, in addition to having perfect spelling and grammar, your listing is easy and fun to read. You want to encourage your potential buyers to read all the way through your listing and then put in bids or hit the “Buy Now” button. You can always find a writer to help you if you don’t want to do this yourself. Prior to listing your product for sale, be very sure you perform some basic research. You’ll search to find any products that are either the same as yours, or similar. You want to get an idea about prices, so if you find similar products record the ‘Buy Now’ and starting bid prices and save for later. Also, keep a close eye on the auctions with the most views and most bids. See what works for you and what doesn’t. After that it’s just simply using that information to make your listing better than before. This strategy is called market research and intelligence. You’re not copying, but you’re analyzing ideas and approaches and then improving on them.

You should be prompt about shipping out your inventory. The best policy is to send it out right after the sale. If you have many listings in place, you may fall a little behind with your trips to the post office or UPS store.

It’s not a good idea to make people wait for what they’ve ordered, and when you make a sale you should really send items out the same day or the next day at the latest. Remember, sellers who ship out items quickly get lots of positive feedback on their profiles, which makes all those trips to the post office worth it.

No matter what your skills or interests, you can find something to sell on Ebay. In fact it might just be the very easiest way to make money online there is. You can get your feet wet by simply selling items you already have and then gradually scale it up into a profitable business.

Ebay is still one of the best ways to start out as an internet marketer. Many professional internet marketers got started this way. If you work hard, you could find that you can build an entire business online simply through selling items in Ebay auctions.

Direct Mailing for Internet Marketers and Online Business Owners

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Since you are already an Internet marketer, you most likely spend most of your time with your business online. A number of possible offline marketing methods are available too. One of the best ways to market your business offline is through direct mail.

Direct mail is a fairly self-explanatory term: you send mail to all of the potential customers that you want to do business with. More than just sounding like a big effort, it typically does require a great deal of labor. But as you well know, the most fruitful endeavors are the ones in which you worked the hardest. You would be surprised at how much more profit you can bring in by sending out mail to those who are interested. Below some suggestions are listed to enable you to begin.

You want to keep the direct mailings targeted to your customers. It would not make sense to dispatch a letter concerning your new lawn gnome product line to individuals who reside in apartments. Similarly, it is unlikely that you will find much success marketing life insurance to college students or other people that are at a stage of life where they are unlikely to buy it. Double check the addresses that you are sending your mail to: are they dormitories, apartment buildings or other multi-family units? Where in the city are they, and how far are they from metropolitan areas? These are subtle distinctions that can actually tell you a lot about where you should be mailing.

Experiment with the different types of direct mail. A good place to start could be with a brochure. It’s easy to create one, mail it to your list, and then track how many prospects make it to your website as a result. If you have succeeded in bringing in a lot of sales, perhaps send out another one in a few months.

Now if your brochure isn’t successful after you have allowed enough time for it to take effect, perhaps try writing a letter. You can try out different types of direct mail and then, when you find one that works, stick with it! As soon as you find the one that works, you can bring in thousands in sales.

Utilize real stamps whenever you are assembling a tiny and very specific campaign employing direct mail, although it might seem ridiculous. It’s possible you’ll just want the automatic postage machines take part in it, but if you take the time to use real stamps, you’ll show your customer that you’re personally invested in their business, which will increase your chances. It’s that kind of detail that can win a prospect over and make them a customer. When you add little personal touches like this, people are more likely to respond, as well.

You shouldn’t be intimidated by direct mail at all. It probably will seem a bit overwhelming if you are the type of person who conducts most of their business online. However, if you want to reach the largest target audience possible with your marketing efforts, your will need to be willing to go after the targets that do not operate online.

What better way to show people who you are and exactly what you are offering to them that sending them some direct mail? The reasons this works is because not everyone is Internet savvy and can find this info online. Many people do not spend all of their time on the Internet. Believe it or not, a well-crafted direct mail piece has the ability to increase your business’s bottom line.

Best Tactics for Interent Marketers to Profit Online

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

There’s still hope in this world because even you really can make money on the net. Yay. The richest online marketer once stood in your shoes, too. You may be delusional and feverish if you’re thinking you’ll make 6 or 7 figures right out of the gate, still wet behind the ears. But still… there are a so many ways a person can make money on the web.

You can open an ecommerce store, consult, freelance, or make doodads in your basement during your spare hours – it’s really only limited to your imagination. Ok, moving forward we’ll talk about some basic methods newer IM marketers can try in the quest to make some cash.

Building and flipping sites is being done by a lot of people. Simple adaptation of house flipping in the offline world of real estate. Two things you’ll need, but not the only two, are a domain name plus hosting which you can get pretty cheaply. You can’t have an empty website, so you have to find a way to get content. After one or two months, minimum, and the site has been generating revenue, then you’ll sell it for hopefully a good price. But this will take some work and effort on your part, and a lot of marketers make money doing this method.

You might prefer to join affiliate programs. Promoting affiliate programs means you can easily make money online without needing any of your own products. It’s quite easy to be an affiliate. It’s a bit like joining a company where you’re the independent salesperson. You then earn a commission for every item you sell. The offline equivalent to this kind of marketing could be like Avon or Tupperware. However, the difference is, your website does all the selling for you via your affiliate link. You earn money every time you make a sale. You have the choice of how you make those sales.

You might consider joining a multi-level marketing company with a good reputation. These companies bring you in and give you a commission on the products or services that you sell. To succeed with this, however, you also have to be able to recruit others into the company. These people that you signed up then sell items and you earn a commission from that. You can earn commissions several levels down this way; you also make money from the people signed up by people in your downline.

Once you have enough people in your downline you can, theoretically, make money on auto-pilot. You have to be careful with these companies, though! A good number of these companies are no more than pyramid schemes! Before you join any of these or buy anything be sure to do some research.

Making money online can be confusing because there are so many ways to do it. The internet is a vast place and is similar to the “real world.” Everything you need is out there; your job is to sift through the mud and find the gold. If you are willing to do the work it requires to realize your goals then you can achieve remarkable success so don’t worry about failing in the beginning. We all make mistakes before we see success. Now, go out and succeed!
