Pay Per Click Advertising – How To Avoid The Landmines

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

Any IM marketer will tell you they’ve heard of PPC advertising, and even for those who “do it,” they’ll probably tell you they don’t know everything about it. All marketers try to think of ways to increase their incomes, and PPC more than likely comes into mind. This form of advertising is possibly the most mysterious and feared among those who have never used it.

Our impression is that it’s attractive to many marketers, but people have heard so many stories about how dangerous it can be with losing money if you’re not careful, etc. Many marketers wonder if it’s a good choice for them. How can you find success with PPC even when others have failed? Let’s talk about how you can do this in a manner that will help you succeed, rather than fail.

Use PPC to help you test the success of your SEO campaigns. You’ll put your attention on those keywords that you can test to see if they’re right for your particular market. You can use successful PPC keywords/phrases in other areas such as SEO, or article marketing. Conversely, any keywords that do not convert well into sales via PPC, you’ll want to avoid using them in other marketing efforts.

It’s always a great idea to use the plural forms for your keywords because there are often differences with singular terms. The plural keywords often can be very good, profitable, to use; so be sure to check those and test them. Be sure to use the correct forms for your words, in all instances. Don’t use plural forms that are not appropriate. People won’t click through on these ads because they’ll have a negative impression about your ad, and the person behind it. Experience has shown over and over that ads containing poor choice of words, or misspelled words, do not get click-throughs.

Research your keywords and niches before you start buying advertising. Remember you want to attract people who will benefit from your product and who are looking for it. If your research is incorrect, or not done, then you could find yourself in a situation where you’re ads are being shown to the wrong people. A lot of the more experienced marketers will advertise to other markets related to their product, but that’s really best left to when you’re more experienced. Again – do your research very well before beginning so you don’t waste your money.

If you get educated about it, PPC advertising need not be a horrible experience. You will, however, need to work at it and give it the attention it deserves. Avoid rushing in to start advertising. That’s usually a recipe for losing money. Thankfully, if you consider the tips contained in this article you should have an easier time of putting together a pay per click campaign that converts. Remember: You can do it if you put your mind to it! If you want more information on PPC, I highly recommend that you read this amazing Phil Ivey article, the best way to promote your isildur1.
